this is so ridiculous to lock critical ability behind such poorly designed quest, that at max level requires party or even raid to complete, not because its an elite but because mobs are so high level you will spend 5 min glancing it with auto attacks because abilities will keep on missing/getting resisted. so bad.

Some thigns I noticed:
You cannot collect in a raid. We were 3 palas and 3 locks for a while, killed 9 mobs without a single drop. Down to party size first mob dropped.
Drops are random. Possible to collect 2 motes at once. You can get drops from multiple mobs in a row, or none at all for a long time.
The Altar of Mannoroth is a purple circle at the end of the eastern path in Felfire Hill, up the left path from the intersection after you enter.
You first turn in the 12 motes to the circle, then collect the next q "Return To Delgren" from the item Shattered Orb that appears on the ground.

Infernals seem to have a MUCH higher drop rate than indicated, I was frequently getting double drops from them.

they need to fix drop rate spent 45 minutes with one other person and only got 2 motes the lock was done in 10 kills

I found the easiest mobs to solo were the Succubus'. Have Rubuke equipped to interrupt SC.
