Patch 4.1.0: Rise of the Zandalari
brings back two familiar factions--the heart of the Gurubashi empire, Zul'Gurub, and the center of the Amani, Zul'Aman, return to Azeroth as once again emerging threats. Formerly raids from previous expansions, these two instances are now Heroic difficulty dungeons that form the second tier of Cataclysm's 5-player Heroic content. The items that drop within these two new zones are all epic-quality and item level 353, and are meant to help bridge the gap between dungeons and raids. Furthering this notion, queuing for a random Rise of the Zandalari Heroic also rewards players with twice as many Valor Points.

makes a welcomed comeback to the PvE scene in Patch 4.1. Originally a level 70 10-player raid implemented in The Burning Crusade, it's now retuned for level 85 characters as a 5-man heroic dungeon. It features the same bosses with updated fight mechanics and also pays tribute to the original infamous timed run--introducing
Ours de bataille amani
as a drop for completing the instance in a certain allotted time.

Interior and Progression
At the start you will meet with
Vol’jin
, the leader of the Darkspear troll tribe. Quests will be available from him and similar to the old raid, you will have to bang the gong to open the gate and begin the dungeon. Progression is identical to the original incarnation and you will have helpful NPCs appear at the start of the instance by releasing a few frogs from their Hex curse, just like in old Zul'Aman.
Bosses
You will immediately recognize the bosses if you've visited ZA before; Akil'zon, Nalorakk, Jan'alai, Halazzi, and Hex Lord Malacrass all make another appearance this time around. The only new one is Daakara, a fearless leader who reorganized the Amani tribe after Zul'jin's demise. These bosses have learned from their past defeats, however, and have a few new and improved tricks up their sleeves. Don't expect them to go down without a fight, especially if you're pushing to make the timer for that tribute bear mount!

When
Zul'Gurub
was removed to make way for Cataclysm, everyone was upset. Formerly a classic raid for 20 players at level 60, ZG became a haven for mount collectors to farm two rare mounts in recent expansions. Luckily, these mounts return in this 5-man! The interior has not changed much, save for a few changes in pathing, but there are new NPCS and some bosses have been replaced. There's also excellent news:
Raptor razzashi cuirassé
and
Panthère zulienne rapide
will probably be in the boss loot table!

Interior and Progression
Repair is available right at a camp to the left of the interior instance entrance. From there you also can get quests to kill some of the bosses around the instance. Progression through Zul'Gurub is similar to the classic raid; you can practically move anywhere you want, though you'll need to kill all bosses to unlock the last.
A new dynamic feature are the three cauldrons--Poison, Frost and Blood--which will provide you with buffs that will help you through numerous situations in Zul'Gurub.
Poison Cauldron (
Tourment toxique
):
Reduces nature damage taken. Should be used when passing areas flooded with poison or fighting against NPCs with nature-based spells.
Frost Cauldron (
Formule de brûlure du givre
):
Inflicts ~75% of the target's health on hit. Dissipates after 1 hit. Does not work on bosses.
Fire Cauldron (
Sang ardent
):
Provides an Hellfire-like point-blank AoE buff. Should be used by the tank or someone who can take hits.
Bosses
You will see a few familiar faces such as High Priest Venoxis, Bloodlord Mandokir, Zanzil, and Jin'do the Godbreaker. But there's also more a newcomer: High Priestess Kilnara. Additionally, all of them have new fight mechanics, and some of them really tough. Check out a strategy video guide made by our very own Wowhead member,
