i get instructions on how to cleanse, and get mats, but no quest. i'm alliance. why is he giving me this stuff if i get not quest?

you dont get a quest in your quest log. Just go to the apropriate cauldron with the required items, "open" it, and turn in the items. BAM 15 rep!...ouch.. I wish it gave more

The Ectoplasmic Resonators are used for the Gahrron's Withering cauldron. To actually get them to drop you need to be carrying a "Vitreous Focuser" which you can get from Apothercary Dithers at the Bulwark (for the horde side at least)

The Osseous Agitators and Somatic Intensifiers (for the other three cauldrons) won't drop without the focuser on you either.

After you've done the caultdron quests, go to Alchemist Arbington in Chillwind Camp, and get the free Vitreous Focuser. With that in your bag you get various objects from mobs, including the Ectoplasmic Resonators. When you get at least 4 of them, get an Arcane Quickener (45s for me, they don't stack, and they don't stay around if you die) from Arbington, and 4 runecloth, and you can take 'em to the cauldron at Gahrron's Withering.

They drop off of ghosts, I get most of mine in Strat running Baron & Orbs :)

I've killed about 30 of the common guys (each) above and havn't dropped 1!
i killed the named ones too and still no drop.

You must have the item "Vitreous Focuser" in your inventory, you can obtain one from the Alchemist at Chillwind (Who sells the Quickeners)

This is the only cauldron reagent you can get outside of Maleterres de l'ouest (Western Plaguelands). Oeil de Naxxramas drop them inside Stratholme. Because most players ignore the cauldron repeatables, it's highly likely that no one in the group will have a Focalisateur vitré in their bags. Having the focuser though allows you to see and loot the item, and the more Strath runs you do, the more you'll passively collect.

Being the only one with the focuser in all of my groups, I was able to collect a good 30 or so of these during my runs in Strath to grind out my pre-raid set. Turnins are small (25 rep per 4), but every little bit helps get you to revered (and exalted) that much faster.
