It appears that fishing in WoW is on a seasonal basis. While fishing in a favorite spot of mine, I was frequently catching Winter Squid. However, on the first official day of spring I fished for several hours and came up with absolutely not Winter Squid. Rather, in it's place I was fishing up Raw Summer Bass at the same frequency as I had the Winter Squid.

I just caught several near Feathermoon Stronghold in Feralas. I'm sad the winter squid are unabtainable, if the previous posters are correct!

This is rather upsetting to find. I could cook that wintersquid to add agility.... But now I am left with these fish I can't even cook yet. And when I can, they only give Spirit? At least make it something nice like Strength... Don't make me wait until winter just to cook +Agi food.

But on a more positive note, I will know to stockpile these in winter and sell them ridiculously high in summer, or at least moreso than they would in winter.

Yep, looks like this has replaced winter squid in Steamwheedle. Guess they really are going to make the game change by real seasons even, heheh. Much like they had christmas quests during december.

Where do i find the recipe for smoked bass?

Why would anyone make this when you can get a +12 spirit bonus WITH a +12 stamina bonus from Tender Wolf Steak or a Monster Omelet? For a recipe that adds only to one statistic, it should be a much larger bonus

Assuming these fish are like the other +10 to a stat (like the wintersquid or glossy mightfish) these STACK ON TOP OF your "Well Fed" bonus - I can confirm this with the cooked glossy mightfish - furthermore you don't have to eat it for the 11 seconds or so.. its an instant buff - so in that case quite nice for a caster - of course i would rather it be an int buff, but at least these things don't reqire a bobber :p

Although Hot Smoked Bass stacks with the other +10 stat foods, Hot Smoked Bass does not stack with Well Fed (from things such as Monster Omelet).

Unless you have no +12 Stamina/+12 Spirit items and only Hot Smoked Bass, this is a useless item.

Lovely how the summer fish is pointless but the winter fish is awesome.

I have fished up four in Azshara this morning. Lately I was there quite regulary and never fished summer bass before. This time I didn't catch any winter squid. Makes me wonder if these fishes are seasonal. Summer bass in spring/summer and winter squid in fall/winter?

Can anyone confirm this:

Use: Restores 874.8 health over 27 sec. Must remain seated while eating. Also increases your Spirit by 10 for 10 min.
Max Stack: 20

Is correct?

That's the same as the amount of health restored just eating it raw and USUALLY when you cook the main reagent gets a health boost.
