Took about two dozen ogres, mostly mystics and shamans, for the crystal to drop for me.

The First time I got this quest, I saw an ogre, killed it, and got the crystal. I thought, "Wow that was easy."

The second time I went through over 60 Mo'grosh until I finally got the drop. Prepare for the long haul but hope for the best.

I kill and I kill and I kill some more. A pile of misc. Ogres a mile high and still no crystal. Jeekers I guess it's just the luck of the draw. At least I can get some practice fighting in.....

With my 'lok I got it after killing about twenty ogres, but got it on my first brute. Then with my mage I went straight for the brutes and got it on the first kill. Lastly, I went for the brutes with my Pally and nada, zip, zero. Musta killed 200 Ogres, every kind, and still no cryastal!

After killing everything in site with no luck, i found Emogg the Crusher (a named shamman). Killed him, got the crystal.

I'm lvl 25 now and trying to wrap up this dumb quest. Been killing forever and Emogg the Crusher even spawned but even he didn't drop the crystal. I've been avoiding the caves. I think it has a much lower drop rate outside the caves.. so this quest seems to take a lot of grinding unless you get the good fortune of a quick drop.

after reading these posts, id built myself up to a long session of grinding. so anyway, i ran in there, killed 1, and now i ahve the crystal. i guess its just who blizzard likes. :P kidding!

its just pot luck. i sugegst clearing the camp, if no crystal then come back another day. :)

This is a good quest for levelling! I'm a lvl 18 pala and am just about taking each ogre down, with healing and the occasional lay on hands. I would advise going with a party to Chok'Sul as you can get two quests here and it makes the ogre-killing seem less pointless :]

But yes the drop rate is savage.

I know I have killed at least a hundred ogres (first grouped, then solo) and still haven't gotten the crystal. I started as a level 20 priest grouped and started soloing at level 21. As long as I conserve my mana (yay wands!), I always make it if I only pull one at a time.

I'm starting to get a bit frustrated. When I did it with my pally it only took a couple kills to get the crystal. I'd like to turn this quest in and be done with it. Though I must admit, it's quick leveling.

I spent my whole level 21 killing shammans, ogres, enforcers, all level 18 or 19. Believe it or not, the last shamman I dealt with tonight not only got me to 22 (thanks to 245 XP), but also had that marvelous rare item.

took me about 10 kills to get it. though it took a while because I was doing it solo. the listed drop rate is so poor because tons of people kill ogres who don't have the quest. when you have the quest it's definitely better than 2%

It took me about 1 hour and 45 minutes or so, and a lot of kills for this to drop, luckily, there were enough green drops and whatnot to make it somewhat worth my time.

Got mine on my 41st ogre kill with my lvl 23 mage.
Quite tiresome that I had to drink and eat after every fight ..

Solo'd the level 18-19 Shaman mobs at level 19 on my Hunter ( with poor quality gear). Was dicey trying to solo Enforcers and Ogres they usually killed my pet and then it was a 80-20 ( mo'grosh favor) gamble if I could finish them off in melee.

8 kills for the crystal to drop.

lvl 23 hunter, and yeah... I did nothing but murder Mo'grosh for 2 hours and no drops. I guess I'll try again tomorrow.

Was doing the Mercenaries quest at the same time.
Had to go into the caves to find the brutes. Fought my way into the middle of the three caves (26 Mage), killed 3 Brutes, and a couple of Mystics
4th brute killed (which completed the Mercenaries quest) also dropped the crystal.

Which was nice.

90 minutes, lvl 20 and lvl 19 hunter. About 80 kills. No crystal. Crap quest.

FINALLY got this to drop after killing them for an hour, killed over 30, got it from an enforcer

Took me roughly 3 hours straight of farming Mo'grosh ogres to get this. Recommend doing it at a higher level so it's less painful.

IMPORTANT!

When the crystal drops it's shared, so everyone in a party gets one. Which means you can have a party of 5 hunting for the crystal, which is a pretty annoyingly rare drop.

OOF! Got home at midnight from work, was 3am by the time I got it to drop. I'm a level 26 holy paladin so killing them wasn't hard but it took a decent amount of time. The quest reward wasn't worth it as I didn't get exp out of the mob kills. at least I got it out of my log.
