Starting the Questline
The 8.3 questline actually has a pre-requisite: you must have unlocked
Nazjatar
and
Azerite Essences
for your character before you receive the starting quest.
On the PTR, you do not currently need to have the War Campaign completed
For Fresh Characters, these are the steps you must take.
Start Battle for Azeroth content with
Battle for Azeroth : Une juste revanche
/

, which leads to Battle for Lordaeron (skippable for subsequent characters).
Complete the follow-up questline ultimately leading to
Une nation divisée
/
Un prêté pour un rendu
.
Unlock World Quests with
L’union de Kul Tiras
/
L’union de Zandalar
on your first character or
L’union de Kul Tiras
/
L’union de Zandalar
for subsequent ones. This unlocks Nazjatar and Darkshore.
Go to Nazjatar (
L’offensive du Loup
/
L’ordre du chef de guerre
) and complete its intro until Magni Bronzebeard shows up (after
Portail de retour
/
Portail de retour
).
Complete Magni's Intermission up to
Cœur de puissance
and
Un conseil malvenu
/
Le retour du prince noir
, the starting quest for 8.3, will show in your questlog.
Why Should You Complete the Introduction Questline from Visions of N'zoth?
Patch 8.3 Introduction questline is one of the longest introduction questlines that Blizzard has made for a content patch in recent years, as it can take around 1.5 - 2 hours to complete the whole ordeal. While the length of the questline can be pretty disheartening, it has a good reason for being this long.
The questline basically runs you through all the systems you will encounter in Patch 8.3, from Assaults, to Horrific Visions, to unlocking your legendary cloak, it is all done in this introduction questline, without time-gating (that we know of) or waiting around for hours on Mission table quests.
The questline also has quite significant rewards, like the new legendary cloak
Ashjra’kamas, voile de détermination
and it unlocks many of the new Azerite Essences.

Reaching Key Locations for Visions of N'zoth
Throughout the intro quests and the patch, there will be a lot of travel involved, as it uses known locations from previous expansions like the Vale of Eternal Blossoms and Uldum.
