So I know there is a lot of raving about the lfd system here and all the phat lewtz it gives you but I for one hate it... for many reasons, most of which I will not go into. But I will mention the thing that disturbs me the most about it, although I use it every day for the frost; it is the anonymity. I meet 4 toons for the duration of a dungeon, usually about 15-20 min, which I have never seen before and will never see again. This means we are all just there for ourselves, which means ninjaing is a regular fact of life now. It also means that if people are jerks or idiots I am still likely stuck with them for the duration. Because the length of the dungeon = the length of the debuff it is hard to justify leaving, and noone can be kicked before 15 minutes are up either =(. No this does not make me a happy WoW player. Worse yet, when I do find someone I think is awesome and I really like, I cannot friend them. Instead I know I am likely never to see them again, and will never raid with them or even chat with them outside of this dungeon. Unlike most people perhaps, I like wow for the social aspect more than the looting; gearing up is fun, having friends to show that gear off to, raid with or just hang out with is better. So a system that discourages friendships in favor of bad behavior and greed I find to be fail. I would love it if WOW could modify this system to encourage or at least allow friendships, perhaps even allowing people to match up with friends if they find them.
In game voice chat works perfectly to my needs. I can hear what is talked and I can talk. sound quality is good imo. no complaints. as for Vent, TeamSpeak, Skype, they make me lag. Vent/TS +2000Latency, Skype +1500. As for Wow´s own voicechat, no real lag. So in my opinnion, that is the best voice thing for my needs. As for progress, Id say BC thing was good. Fist have to clear T4 content, then up to T5 and T6. Not free T9 like I have now and newer set foot in naxx or Uldu. Okey, gearing as casual player it´s good to have fast raids =) (like VoA, Ony..) Faster, shorter raids should not give as good gear as long ones. (and in long, progress too, so that harder bosses further in raid and better gear in general) Separate the gear in PvE and PvP. Like VoA is horrble, you can get the BEST gear through shear luck for PvE/PvP in there (not weapons, but...) Play PvP for PvP gear, PvE for PvE =) Throw VoA out of the window. (yeap, the best gear I have is from so easy VoA25 with 2charrs) Badges are good, I give you that, so is honor, as actually when you get then you can CHOOSE what you buy, not having to rely on drops and rolls. BUT the badges... maybe conqueror from HC:s and triumf 2/day or somthing like that so even some progress would be in game. Nowadays when you ding 80 you cannot get to Naxx "your gear is low, need to have at least T8" and when you farm badges, you hvae absolutely no need to visit it. (as happened to me, nowadays I can PuG ICC normal with 2toons, and newer set foot in Naxx/Uldy untill gear is T9/10) and I think it is the wrong time to be in those as it is like faceroll and no real use to run "old" WotLK raids. Well, that was just my opinnions. Just one player of so so many. Ah, LFG tool: I like it =) even thougt it takes long to get in with my lock. with my RestoShaman 2min max =)Id just would like to have my name in raidBrowser all the time.. and Que for some BG as I wait for Random Dungeon. Scarshield Legion RPPVP (underpopulated small realm)Horde/ Ravencrest Ally (Overpopulated "Powerrealm")
I see a few comments about how easy the game gets. But isn't this all in the eye of the beholder ?If you're an casual player then it's nice to have some gear upgrades now and then with emblems. What I find an disapointment sometimes is that people sometimes forget that they themselves have started once with the game, without knowledge or skills. We aren't all elitist jerks with instant skills and knowledge about everything. Some people are very unforgiving and call you names for screwing up unintentionally. But instead of pointing out what needs to be done to improve, they call you n00b and kicking you out or ignoring you instantly without given an chance to ask something. Also, the comment that people get good gear too easy is also subject to debate. You still need skills to get in nice raids or raiding guilds. You get trials before you can enter an raid guild/force. At least the serious raid guilds/forces that is.People ask for your achievements or other things before you can come along in ICC 10/25 or demanding that you can do 5k dps (just an example). In order to do lots of dps you need to get your attack rotations right, in order to get better dps. In the end it still depends on skills rather then gear alone. You can't get progression with gear and no skills... and you can't get progression with skills and no gear...
Agreed. This has been a fact for a long time. However this is more of an attempt to draw more "casual" players into the game, even though "casual" players don't have the time, schedule or hardware to do real raiding/grouping.They've been making the game "quicker" paced in terms of upgrades and content, while lowering the difficulty by a lot, now this doesn't seem so bad on paper as a player however many people now with 80s really have little-no idea of how to play their class/role in a group, just because older content has been brushed aside and really is a ladder that has been removed in place of an elevator with fluffy seats. Also alot of old -fun- content is completely ignored because people don't want anything from there, there are no rewards worth getting, especially when easier content gives better upgrades, for example, you can get T9 content gear from doing heroics and the ToC/ICC heroic instances that completely makes doing Ulduar, one of the most fun instances in the game, obselete and unwanted to the majority of players. This is all thanks to the removal of progression in raids. Now, I don't like to sound like an Elitist Scumbag, but progression, hard to obtain gear, and time invested in getting gear keeps the content fresher over longer periods of time and makes people with lesser gear try harder by doing raids like Naxx, Ulduar and such even though we're already on T10 content.Just my two bits.
As I am stationed in Iraq, it was marginally difficult to catch up to the 3.3 patch, as when I left, the last thing I saw on trade chat was , "LFM for Naxx, DPS needs to be 2k+". After hours of patching, the first thing I see is something about 6k dps, and, well I needed new fatigues. This LFG tool is the coolest thing one could ask for, having a lag disability, and not being in a guild that could raid, or was even up to the task of doing heroics the old fashioned way. As much as I miss my t2 hunter from back in the "old days", this system makes end game content far more accessable by people who don't feel they need to dedicate 12 hours a day. Also, I found that it helped me get a quick grasp on how my class has changed, so, while the badges and stuff were nice, I find that just being able to participate in something that doesn't completely fail is a good boost to e-self-esteem.Thanks Blizzard <3
Ditto to those that mentioned doing a cross-server raid finder in the same manner as the current instance finder. As a casual gamer, (I have to work for a living!), I don't stand a chance of joining any of the bigger "raiding guilds" on my server. Most of which want you to committ to a certain number of raids per week and already have top level gear. I've only been on one raid in the year+ I've played, and that was a pick-up raid I managed to get invited too. I also did very few instances until Blizzard revamped the system, now I pretty much live in instances when I'm playing, in the last couple months I've manged to raise my gearscore from the low 3K range to the upper 4K range through the aquisition of emblems of frost and triumph. Now I can do heroic runs even in the ICC instances and hold my own, something I would have never dreamed of before the instance finder revamp.
A dungeon tool that works: YESFree Epic loots for using it: SUREBlizzard knows how to bribe people into using a system but what impresses me is the challenge that is still in the game. Back in Vanilla WoW the challenge was to get some purple gear, NOW it's more about how to do a raid right without standing in the purple fire (because your connection sucks). ICC is easily the hardest raid of WotLK and possibly the hardest in all of WoW to date. I like the challenge that Raids have to them and I'm kind of glad that I can raid with 3 different toons at 80 :3
