Flipped a Rênes de Poséidus - got it at 40k, put it up 2 months later for 200k after no one had posted one for a couple weeks. Paid for almost a year of Wow :D
every so often i buy the white kittens off lil timmy for like 20 or 45s whatever it is an sell them for 500-2k depending on my servers.also gold tip for winter veil: go to blood elf zone eversong woods an kill all the dragonhawks for small eggs, i prefer those over the vultures in westfall as the dragonhawks drop 1-3 eggs every kill, westfall buzzards hardly drop any. why do i mention this? because the small eggs are ingredient for the winter veil cookies used for one of the quests or dailies an you can sell about 20 of em for a few hundred to lazy people who dont want to go out an farm em. and because theyre low lvl, the dragonhawks, only lvl 5-7 or so, you can do this on a low level alt as well. though if alliance it might help being higher to avoid the ghostlands guards in tranquillien unless you decide to run the western coastline up to eversong.
I was checking the AH for Recette : Pyro-côtelettes de chimaerok à la Dirge over the course of a couple of months for my Mage (a Cooking completionist), and happened across two for sale after about 3 months of checking... for 500g, with an undercut at 499g. Snagged both, learned one, resold the other a couple months later for 50,000g.
i've managed to buy 860 twink item for 6k and sold it for 110k using armory on my phone!best deal i made without using sniper :D
Thought I would bring another topic to the floor. I make gold by running class hall missions. The amount I make has been steadily climbing as follows:Jun 293,397Jul 351,264Aug 507,211 (all 72 followers across 12 characters at level 900 and titled)Sep 1,034,047 ( jump in gold from Aug primarily due to 7.3 missions)Running class hall missions is primarily a game of having titled followers and accumulating order resources. At present I have 371,668 order resources of which 205,600 are in the form of Blood of Sargeras which are portable across characters via order resource caches. Haven't paid a subscription fee since last October, have $210 in Blizzard credits and 10 unspent wow tokens. I must say, it is a huge effort to raise 72 followers to titled which is key.
I've had stashed a few of "removed in Cata" shirts you'd obtain by creating a new character (pre-Cata). When the wardrobe was introduced in Legion, shirts made transmoggable and bind when used (instead of white quality never bind at all), I've sold few spare ones I've already had added to my wardrobe for 100-200k each, for example squire's shirt from Draenei paladins. That was one moment when I felt packratting really paid off.
I saw that someone had posted a legendary plate belt for only 15k. I snapped that up and flipped it for the going price at the time of 150k.
For a few hours before the mage tower goes up, i buy any and all drums on the AH. On my realm, they range from 25-100g. I re-list them when the Mage Tower goes up (people need drums to complete the challenges for their appearance) for 350g. It sticks to that price until people catch on and start undercutting. Made 400k PROFIT last go around, hoping for similar now that its up again.
Since I don't actually know/remember offhand what my biggest flip/sale was in actuality I shall answer in relative terms. To whit, the Bouclier flambe-crâne I looted waaaaay back in a Vanilla AV (back when it was a multi-hour BG, not a multi-minute race) on my Horde shaman alt, got him enough for his epic mount either before he was 60 or else very soon after which for Vanilla was an accomplishment. (The fact that I still remember not only that it happened but the specific item... :-P )
Early legion obliterum was my biggest market, alch stones made it so easy, though I got burned on later patches when I expected a bigger market and...so did everyone else.
I should check before I write this, but I bought fish on the AH to turn into DMF to get the water mount. The fish cost 40k. Now I believe the fish is BOP so it can't be sold/traded to players. At least I didn't have to fish for the mount. I don't have many mounts. Like less than 300.. please pick me! BTW I have zero raid mounts. Awesome. I only got mounts from vendors, dungeons, quests, and rares. :o
A recent big sale were the potions needed for the mystery Sun Darter pet. They sold for thousands as fast as I could get the mats. Also the Sneaky Marmot and Dig Rats when they first came out. I don't do much flipping, so my big sales generally come from paying attention to patches and what people will need.
back in wod i brought 3 Hippogriffe corrompu on the AH for 1500g each, was obviously a misclick and seconds after i received whispers from the distraught seller, i felt so bad for the guy i couldn't bring myself to keep them or sell them back to him so i just gifted them back, he sent me 54.5k as a thank you, so 50k profit for being a good person and we are still bnet friends to this day
I stumbled upon the world boss in front of the Black Temple back in the days of MoP. Got the dagger, and someone offered 100k back then for it. Not into flipping, but that was my most valued sale taking into account the economy. (Although I had a crafted legendary I sold for 200k on day 1 of their release.)
Hyacinth Macaw way back before pet battling, but right after they were made a zone-wide drop in Stranglethorn Vale. I think it was maybe a thousand or so gold, but I was able to sell it for just under 100k.
Back in Cataclysm, I bought a Gangredrake for 60k and resold it for 200k. I mean, I probably could have made more, but that felt like a lot of gold for me at the time. I also had some good times DEing Terres de Feu rep capes and selling the shards for double what I paid for the capes. What made it even more criminal was the guild perk that let you proc extra shards when DEing items. Good times.
I sold an 840 Poignes ensorcelantes de Mir for 500K (475K after AH cut) a few days into Legion. It was one I got while questing as a 110. (Twitter)Most recent biggest flip in terms of gold value was this one. Bought a 935 Diadème des Bien-nés for 350K and sold it for 475K.Biggest flip in terms of percentage was 6,958,954% profit for a Ecrase-pieds zandalari, but that's probably not even my highest; would have to dig thru data on all of my realms to find it. (Twitter)
I rarely (read: almost never) sell or buy big on the AH.So my biggest sell would be the Fusée au kyparium appauvri I got from a Paquet-cadeau du Bling-o-tron 6000.I would have kept and used it if i hadn't built one for my own use at least a year before I pulled it out of the box.Put it in for 130.000 Gold and less than a day later there was a very heavy pouch in the Mail.
My biggest gold making effort was being able to snipe a Refuge éternel de la sentinelle for 80g and immediately return it to the Auction House for 80k... PROFIT! :)
Bought a vial of the sands for 40k, waited 2 months and resold for 20k
