I know that Blizzard was talking with a group that ran one of the largest private vanilla servers, i cant remember their name. This group has been in talks with Blizzard for 2 years now. I hope that this server comes out soon and if you achiev anything on the private server(ie scarab lord) that it will transfer to the normal game.I also hope that scarab lord will be obtainable for everyone as if it is one server then only 1 person in 10 million players will get it.
imo when classic servers go live ppl will use them alot but soon after that everyone will lose interest and will go bk to new exp...
tourist mode is a great word for this.
I like the thought, and I think I will like classic servers. But . . . I don't have 40 hours a week to devote to the game these days (I did 12 years ago). Also, I wonder if people realize that in 1.12 almost half the specs were completely worthless.
Even if people who were whining for years deserve a true vanilla content without any modification to feel what it really was and not what they expect it to be I highly doubt that it will be the case, blizzard will somehow make it easier. This is a contest post.
I am so excited for wow classic. I miss vanilla. Shut up and take my money!
I am happy to see this happening. I am wondering how this will tie into my current account. Will I be able to get the old mounts that are retired? Will we need to open AQ40 again, with the possibility of the bug mount? Will ZG/ZA become raids again with associated faction/rep grind? Can I get those retired pieces of gear for transmog? Or will certain achievements be only on the Classic server, if they have achievements at all? So many possibilities!
Glad to see they are hiring for a completely different development team - was worried that development for classic servers would cut into current xpac content.
If for whatever reason they decide to release classic wow w/o monthly pay, that would be an absolute blessing considering my friends don't play wow because of that payment
I really love this. I really like Legion but it will be really fun to play the original game I fell inlove with
My friend has been asking me questions all day about this. They basically amount to "is this just rolling back to conditions in 1.0, or recreating 1.0 with assets from 8.0?" I expect many of the convenience features like Group Finder will obviously be rolled back, but there are questions about things like graphics, UI, design and so on.I'm not holding my breath, BUT, with the recreation of Diablo 1 in Diablo 3's engine, I won't rule anything out.
I hope it will work exactly like vanilla was. No account wide system, no wow tokens, and stuff like that, just pure grind.
I am just waiting for the day when the novelty will wear off and people are gonna want new content. LIke, I really hope they don't go the OSRS route of adding content to the classic servers that are ONLY for the classic servers, because that would be awful as @#$%.
it sounds like they're really jumping the gun on this announcement (a lot of "we don't knows") but it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.it will also be interesting if having official classic servers mean they'll start going after private servers a lot harder for trademark infringement/because they'll now represent a monetary loss.
There have been so many QoL changes over the years that I think some people will be really disappointed. I will definitely try that, but I don't really expect to stay for too long.
Great choice adding vanilla servers. I will definitely try them at least once. 10/10
I could see these drumming up some advertisement by hooking people in on nostalgia. Then, encourage them to try the live product.
Too early to answer all of the burning questions we have I guess. Best to just sit back and wait and enjoy that an official legacy server will be up in the future.
