Rise of the Mech Event - Hearthstone Top Decks Coverage

As we approach the release of WoW Classic and Patch 8.2, Hearthstone’s Team 5 doesn’t seem to idle away either!
The new Standard rotation as the Year of the Dragon has been up to a great start, and the single player campaign
The Dalaran Heist
yet again reinvented the rogue-like solo experience of Blizzard’s card game with utmost success.
And if that wasn’t enough already,
the Rise of the Mech event coming up on June 3rd
will shake up Hearthstone’s almost settled competitive meta once again: Not only will all players receive a free golden legendary; the game will also receive its first
card buffs
in history.
New Legendary Card: SN1P-SN4P
The addition of a new card half-way through the expansion indicates that Team 5 looks to try out new ways in terms of general design. The newly released card called
SN1P-SN4P
will be a mech jack-of-all-trades:
While SN1P-SN4P is going to be a staple in all mech-heavy archetypes such as Mech Paladin or Mech Hunter, the card will most definitely see play in a lot more decks.
Members of the community have already theory-crafted a ton of potential combos, and one of them looked to become a game-breaking disaster: A priest card called
Reckless Experimenter
would reduce the cost of SN1P-SN4P to 0 until the end of the turn, making the new minion an endless resource of Echo board stats and a possible one-turn-kill threat if a friendly mech would be present on the board from last turn.
The key word Magnetic, which enables all these incredible play involving SN1P-SN4P, was introduced with
The Boomsday Project
, and Team 5 intended to release the new legendary card as a versatile addition to lists who want to play at least some mech minions.
That is why SN1P-SN4P will remain untouched; however,
Reckless Experimenter
will receive a nerf by not being able to discount Deathrattle minions below 1 mana.
This update already shook up the community even before it released, and we can be sure to see SN1P-SN4P having a huge impact on the shaping meta game after the Rise of the Mech event.
Rise of the Mech Card Buffs
What will have even more impact on all games modes of Hearthstone will be the upcoming balance changes to a total of 18 cards:
As already said, this is the very first time in the history of Hearthstone that Team 5 decided to buff cards. Of course, this has been requested by the majority of the community for the longest time; the ability to provide feedback not only about seemingly overpowered but also underperforming cards will most definitely change the view on both design decisions and resulting problems which in the past has almost exclusively consisted of witch-hunts against certain cards or decks.
We over at
hearthstonetopdecks
have a hard time to settle on our favorite card buff. The rise of
Pogo-Hopper
could turn into a Quest Rogue 2.0 situation, and
Necromechanic’s
cost adjustment should be able to bring back iterations of Deathrattle Hunter. The change to paladin spell
Crystology
may be the most anticipated mana cost reduction, just because most Paladin archetypes, after the nerf to Divine Favor, are in dire need of consistent card draw.
This big round of buffs looks to shake up the meta game, and it will most certainly succeed with that. Every class will receive two card changes, and that will enable the community as a whole to revisit all possible interactions and archetypes, something that most players love the most about new expansions or balance updates.
