I kinda get when people say "I play a class, not a spec", but that has never been true since they started with specializations. You might think "I'm a mage", but try telling people you're a good frost mage (back in 8.3) when you enter a group, and you get kicked because they wanted fire instead. The current covenant design meant for classes instead of specs only creates this awful feeling of thinking you're playing the wrong spec because the covenant dictates your power. And maybe even the wrong class, if none of your covenant abilities are good for you class in general.
Dunno the insane moblity increase you get from Nightfae / Venthyr is kinda ignored here (with many SL Dungeons relying on lots of mobility). Not saying that Kyrian isnt insane with removing strong bleeds diseases.i.E Paladin asking for mobility like forever should consider Nightfae/ Venthyr above the other even if they lose out on some dps (in a simulated world in which nobody has to move). But in reality the additional moblity allows you to deal more damage cuz you spend less time walking towards enemys until you can attack.
This article is pretty much useless at start because the choices assume renown 30 with conduits/soulbinds fully unlocked. Early on other covenants might be bis.
Hunters be like: "Should I pick Kyrian, Kyrian or ... maybe Kyrian?
Pick what you want , you’re dogging yourselves and this happens every raid and every expansion. Break the cycle . Do what you want besides sit in misery because of “guides” that told you to do something. Looks like people buying milk and bread when cold weather is on the way .
Pick.The.Covenant.You.Want.Things will all change and be in a constant state of flux. Come the mid tier patch they will do an overhaul of where abilities are once they have all the data (which will only be based on Renown Level 12 probably) and then attempt to make things balanced across the board. Its how game design works and how blizzard has usually developed their game.
They still haven't admitted that they are fully unable to tune all.The nerf rotation will probably start on the first day of raid infuriating everyone.
I’m lucky night fae seems the best choice for my resto Druid and that’s the one I was going with on that. I’m still taking my feral to Revendreth because a guild that’s fun to play with won’t care if your min maxed and I don’t mythic raid. Let the fun begin.
Covenants and soulbinds are going to change, so pick what you find fun initially. What is infuriating is that if you don't guess correctly, you will have to change in the future to be competitive. 1-2% difference isn't why people are angry, it's 5-10% differences between 2 characters of the same class, with the same talents, with similar gear. When that occurs because of covenants, it causes people to quit.
One covenant overpresent and majority dps going with it, inb4 crybaby storm at first balancings of the covenants.Ill pick them how i see them fit, as i want all 4 anyway. My 4 first toons, Huntress BM Venthyr, Feral drui Night fae, DK gnome frost necrolord, shadow gnom priest kyrian. After the first 4 its sure a matter of what i like most and whats the easiest way.Whats best dps argument comes after all that, but then i dont raid anymore, had enough after a decade.Im now hardcore casual.
ya whats the best covenant for solo? The answer: it doesnt matterThats the one I will be choosingNow whats the best covenant for gold making? There is only one choice, Night Fae for the Queens Conservatory, no other covenants give that level of materials. So for all you gold makers out there, go Night Fae
calling it now, this will be wowheads "weekly reset" during all of shadowlands :Dnah... but, it will happen. srsly tho: thanks for your work, much appreciated!
i am still going Necrolord on my DK i dont care what the stats say, remember blizz has always buffed and nerfed abilities during the xpansion
You know I think people are missing he point of these posts, they’re really just to let people who are on the fence or who want to really min/max decide on a covenant. For the average player most of us already know what we’re gonna do and that choice won’t have a meaningful impact on most gameplay that hey participate in. I don’t have numbers but I’m willing to bet that the difference between the top covenant choice and the bottom one is marginal at best. No matter what covenant someone chooses people will still find arbitrary ways to not invite them to groups so I say have fun with whatever covenant you think is best instead of being stuck with a boring choice because someone said it’ll get you invited to groups.
