Good to know Necro is the go-to for Demo lock. I love the look and doing good damage will be a nice bonus
Lots of the comments on the guides keep using terms like "significantly behind" in terms of DPS, without really qualifying what that means. Is it 3% less? 10%? 1%? Significant can be very different to different types of players...
Everyone wishin they had options like shadow priest "any" is the best thing to see lol
For the majority of guides, especially ones made after this week's tuning passes, it seems that all covenants are within 2% of each other for most specs - if not even less for class/specs like shadow priests and rogues. If you're competitive but not pushing world/server first races I would suggest looking at utility each covenant brings - does your class need movement? Go venthyr or night fae. Do you need more defensive ability? Try Kyrian or Necrolord. Shore up your weaknesses as a class.Lastly, remember that collections items (mounts, toys, pets, transmog) are what will last past this content. If you want to have a gravestone on your back, or pursue pure druidic fantasy, or what your RP character would do, go with that. Do not worry about a ~1.2% throughput difference that you will not even notice unless you're pushing 3k ratings, 20+ keys, or mythic progression.
Dont forget to check out the special activity of each covenant. I will be choosing the Kyrian covenant, I had a thought of checking out their special activities. Path of Ascension, Abomination Factory, Queen's Conservatory and Ember Court.Path of Ascension have you control one of your soulbinds in various challenges against foes you set up, and you can buff your dude with crafted equipment. Or even make the challenge harder for extra rewards. Looks -very- interesting, and promotes skill compared to the others. The Abomination Factory is essentially gather mats, craft gribblies. Not much thought to it. Ive read of people complaining about it being rather uninspired and simple compared to the others.Queen's Conservatory is effectively the Pandaria garden on steroids. But likewise major timegating to it. Think of it as a puzzle where you manage wildseeds with sleeping gods inside, buffing and empowering them. The better arrangement you make, the better reward. Finally the Ember Court is to set up a party for important npcs you invite, managing their likes and dislikes. So much walking back and forth, and time pressure. And admittedly I like the kyrian aestetic, plus their special ability is good for Shadow priests.
Very surprised to see Wowhead publishing and allowing these kinds of lists to be posted. I get the purpose and I'm not condoning it. There will be long-term consequences in Acti-Blizz eyes for everyone choosing the "best" spec based on what the "pros" say.Oh and if you're in a guild that demands you play a certain covenant/soulbind in order to raid progressively or participate in Mythic+. If you wanna play a different covenant, do it. there are other groups of people out there that will be happy with what you choose.Wowhead should really be putting a little banner or something on this kind of "news". It puts a sour taste in people's mouth to see an expectation for content not out. It could be as simple as:These are the opinions of those considered Elite in rankings for their respective class/rankings.Keep in mind, Acti-Blizz will change this "optimal" list so much. In the meantime. Let us all pretend like we're in Method or Limit and racing for the World first mythic raid. Pathetic.
No way I'm going necrolord on holy priest. That does not fit my spec fantasy at all.
The chart is somewhat misleading as wowhead does tell you to read the comments. They go into detail about some of the other choices. some of all are really over exaggerating about "not getting invite to groups." I guess only the ones who care about min/max covenants will know the best one for each specs and be making all the groups.
Dang, i was going Night Fae regardless, but now i'll be sitting there worrying i'm going to get nerfed
With such a small difference between covenants, I find it helarious how a single soulbind change literally swaps most of the specialisations to a singular covenant. GOD I HOPE THEY CONTINUE TO DO THIS POST RELESASE SO META-SLAVES SUCK D.
I hope they don't nerf anything else, and instead decide to buff other covenants to be stronger and more in line with others.
Do PvP Covenant post!
Honestly feels more balanced than I'd expected.Covenant Raid M+Kyrian 15 16Necrolord 8 7Venthyr 9 6Night Fae 15 16Kyrian and Night Fae have a couple too many each, but for going into Live in less than two days, and for this ONLY being for those who care about min/max, it's far better than folks are making it out to be.
Make up our minds, Activision!
did I miss some balance patch? why is night fae suddenly good for half of the classes?
Wowhead can u just stop doing such post, so blizzard wont nerf every covenant you highlight. Cause soon we'll see Night Faé nerf ....... Please let anyone choose their how covenant, the top player already knows which one they go for. The only purpose to such post is to make views (wich makes sense) but like i said Fae's nerf incoming.
Everything night fae, welp thats gonna get nerfed into oblivion now
