It's a repeatable quest to get Reputations with The Scryers (350 for each tome). I farmed about 6 of those in 2 hours at the Manaforges in Netherstorm.

Ok, Im a level 64 Warlock. I killed these guys around the mana forge for about 2 hours and didnt get a single tome and the only signet I got was off a rare guy. So either these are set to only drop for players above a level higher than mine or I have the worst luck in the world. I killed gaurdsmen, and casters, basicly everything that was around the building there, mostly 68-69 level mobs. I plowed through them at a pretty good pace, they are fairly squishy given thier level compared to mine. I recomend waiting till your 68+ to try to grind for tomes I guess, deffinantly dont try it at 64 or lower. I could understand the tomes being rare but not to see a single signet seemed a little strage to me since the firewing singnets drop like 1 for ever 4 or 5 mobs you kill.

These are turned in to Voren'thal the Seer in Shattrath @ 42,91 (upstairs next to the Grand Master Enchanter) for Scryers rep. You get 350 rep per Arcane Tome. You also get an Arcane Rune in return, which is used for shoulder item enchants.

Units have a low drop rate of lower level guys. Firewing point can drop them, but the rate sucks bad. For solo, i suggest West of Area 52 killing the guys there. Those same guys drop Sunfury Signets, https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=30810 . You can get the arcane tomes off higher level guys in Instances, but there is a better chance for you to go solo them at Mana Forge B'Naar.

I find that actually farming for the aldor easier, for i got many Fel Armaments and Marks of Kil'Jaeden off the Cabal north of auchindoun, and trading them for Arcane Tomes allowed me to get about 6 or so arcane tomes within about 2 hours.

If you are buying items for rep, Sunfury Signet are more cost-effective. At the time of this post, you can buy about 20 Sunfury Signets (500 rep) for the price of 1 Arcane Tome (350 rep). As the market changes, tomes may become more cost-effective, but you shouldn't pay more for a tome than 14x the going rate of a signet, if all you want is rep.

I have had very good experience at the Ruins of Karabor. It is northeast of the Sanctum of the Stars in Shadowmoon Valley. I got about 50 Signets and 5 tomes in an hour.

The best way to get these is to go to some TK dungeon. Probably the biggest droprates are there and the trash isnt that hard with a group is it? The other oprion i suggest are the Black Temple terraces. There they drop quite often too. Some good coincidence makes me drop them eveetime i come there from the first mob ^^

My favorite spot to farm these for when I need shoulder enchants...

Manaforge Duro in Netherstorm. Lots of casters with low armor, easy to steamroll over them as a physical damage class.

Outside the black temple, on the rise tot he north of the Dragonmaw Fortress. They spawn very close together here. Good for AOE farming. They do have a heal however, which heals for a lot and casts fast, need to watch out for that.

On my server at least, the cost for these, and the signets, both plummeted the moment the SSO dalies hit. The Dawnblade mobs drop them both like no tomorrow. Used to be easy to trade a tome for an armament, but now I'm seeing deals popping up like 2-3 tomes for one armament.

As of right now, they're going for 6 gold each, with about 8 pages of them on the auction house.

Yeah best place i've found so far to farm these as well as signets are the manaforges west of Area 52 you wont get too many tomes but u get a pretty good amoung of the rings.

Arcane Tomes and Fel Armaments are becoming very expensive to buy from AH, there is high demand now, main reason is when you search what enchant can i do to a shoulder item people understand that it is much easier to enchant a shoulder item with the older enchants cause

a) older enchants are cheaper
b) older enchants are only a bit inferior to new ones
c) you need time to get rep with The Sons of Hodir and money plus you might don't know where to even start getting rep with them,
however you probably are already honored at least with Aldor or Scryers so you can go enchant your shoulder item immediately!

If you're just starting out with the Scryer quests, you'll likely try farming the blood elves in Terrokar first. In an effort to save -a lot- of time and headache, I would recommend just buying the one required for the quest off the AH.

Fun macro I made:

This will count the amount of tomes and signets you have, multiply the rep value for each (25 per signet, 350 per tome) and then add the two values.

In other words, it counts the amount of signets and tomes you have and tells you how much rep they are worth =D

at this point, and because I'm on a low population server, there are none of the signets or tomes on the AH. There was one Arcane Tome, which I bought, but nothing else. I was really just wanting to get enough rep (honored) to get the level 50 spellthread pattern. it seems like this is going to be long & tedious.

after only 15-20 minutes burning all of the Archimage solfurie's with my main, 85 mage, i came out with 25 signets, but not a single tome. However, i did find the Four of Blessings card , pretty rare, not wat i'm looking for :/

If you want Sha'tar rep at the same time as scryer rep in Cataclysm I suggest doing Botanica heroic. True you can only do the bosses once per day on heroic for Sha'tar rep, but the trash continues to give til exalted and they drop plenty of these and the signets. The reason I say Botanica for Scryer instead of Arcatraz or Mechanar, is that in the latter two there are many demons among the followers of Kael'thas. This means for the trash you are getting a mix of scryer and aldor rep items instead of just scryers.

If you're level 85 and looking to grind Scryer reputation then The Path of Conquest in Shadowmoon Valley has large clusters of blood elves that are perfect for farming Arcane Tomes, Sunfury Signets and Netherweave Cloth. There's probably 120~ mobs within the area all located close together for easy grinding.

I got my first one this morning from a Firewing Defender in Trekkor Forest after killing well over 100 various Firewing mobs. For those of you like me who sometimes miss the mobs buried in the drops list, know that there is a chance, probably not a good chance but a chance, to pickup on one of these long before you move on to the Sunfury mobs.

i have 2 of the fel armarments (aldor enchant) for trade for arcane tomes on Horde Bonechewer, contact Heph for straight up 1:1 trade.

-These books are used for a Scryers only quest, it is repeatable
-The runes rewarded are redeemed at the Scryers bank for shoulder enchants
-Books are world drop, anyone can find them
-Books are useless to the Aldor except to sell or trade

Before you have turned one of these in there is a quest available that you DO keep in your quest log. You might as well abandon it until you find a book however because all it does is take up space, you can find books whether you are on the quest or not
Once you have turned in one book it becomes repeatable and you cant carry a quest around in your log.

First of all these drop from all blood elf mobs that can drop signets and tome. They are almost same drop rate so no particular mobs can be farmed to get alot of them. They sell approximately for 25g in my server's AH.

If you have never returned any tomes before you can get quest from Scryer's tier in shattrath city. You can get this quest, ofc , if you are with Scryers and not Aldor. The quest givver is in the middle building on 2nd floor. When you complete quest because you returned a tome he will not have "!" anymore but a blue "?" as all repeatable quests are so you can find a tome and return it afterwards. those that are aldor should trade it for Fel armaments but i recommend you selling it THAN buy fel armament because tomes are more expensive.(in my server)

With returning the Arcane tomes you get a type of tocken which you can return for various shoulder enchant in the Scryer's bank. You also get reputation(dont know how much exactly) when you turn in a tome. I bet i cleared everything. Good luck!

Arcane Tomes are needed for Scryer reputation as well as when turned in, they give you tokens which can be redeemed for various shoulder enchants.

2 Arcane Runes = Level 64 shoulder enchant (Requires Honored rep with Scryers)

8 Arcane Runes = Level 70 shoulder enchant (Requires Exalted rep with Scryers)

Each Arcane Tome awards you 350 reputation with Scryers).

Each Sunfury Signet awards 25 reputation when turned into Magistrix Fyalenn right outside the main Scryer building. You can also alternatively turn in 10 Sunfury Signets for 250 reputation.

Hope this resolved any and all issues brought to anyones attention when happening to stumble across these said items.

If your level 70 and need more Scryer faction then head to the tempest keep with a nice party. You will see about 2-5 drop an instance.

Solo grinding just farm them in Netherstorm.

Terokar Forest isn't the best option. I farmed 2 levels when TBC was released from 60.. Luckily i had nice mage gear from naxx so had no problems. By the end of my second level i'd collected 6 tomes and about 500 rings.

Prices varey on the AH. Expect to pay 10-15g for them, but don't pay more imo

Fel Armaments drops off demons in most high level areas. (Also low area, but much lower drop rate there.) Arcane Tomes drop off blood elves in most high level areas. (Eclipsion Point in Shadowmoon, all the Manaforges in Netherstorm.)

These seem to be hard to keep track of, so here is a summary of which tokens go where:

The Marks of Kil'jaeden or Firewing Signets can no longer be turned in after you reach Honored reputation. Turning in the Fel Armaments and Arcane Tomes also rewards you with Holy Dust or Arcane Runes that can be turned in at the faction quartermaster (found in the faction's bank) for your choice of shoulder slot enchantments.

Don't sell a Tome or Armament if you can't use it - trade it 1:1 for the one you need - you'll often hear this happening on global and trade chat.

Not necessarily...I'm human and when I turn in these signets one at a time as opposed to ten at a time, I get 28 rep sometimes, so I think regardless it works out anyways and it's not that big of a deal...

Every other single turn-in will say it gives 27, then the next will give 28, then 27, and so on. It *actually* gives 27.5 each time, but the game just rounds it off on screen instead of visibly tracking the decimals.

As soon as players are exalted and have their enchant, they won't need them anymore, but still loot them --> prices will drop considerably. Expect 5g each on AH if you have the patience to wait until everyone else is exalted, and give them away.

You get reputation with Sha'tar if you're not already honored with them (and although it doesn't appear in the chatlog, verify the reputation pane and you'll see it)

It will take 60 Arcane Tomes to get from Revered to Exalted (21,000 reputation). At at least 10-15g per tome, you're looking at a 600g+ cost.

The absolute BEST place I have found to farm for both the Tomes and the Sunfury Signets is the right-hand wing of the Black Temple (can't remember the name off the top of my head) where the initiate demonhunters are going to town against one another. As a tankadin, I regularly pull 6-8 of these guys and usually pickup 2-3 signets and .25 Tomes. In an hour yesterday I earned 32 Signets and 5 Tomes. Plus all the gold they drop and they drop MONSTROUS amounts of Netherweave,which sells easily on the AH for 4+ gold a stack.

They are dropping like candy i find now. In general money is flooding in much more then it had been...

I suspect they are doing the same sort of thing they appeared to do before TBC release, and increasing the players equipment and money before ToLK release.

This is also evident by the proposed changes to PvP in the next patch, no diminishing returns on PVP kills = easier to gain PvP equipment... same as prior to TBC, only that was the introduction of the honor/marks currency system.

The next patch notes also include other items which makes one think they want people richer and better geared asap, BoE drops from world bosses anyone?.

Perhaps i am speculating over something they have announced? I have not however, seen anything about it.

Easiest place to farm these babies is on the Isle of Quel'danas. Look for Marksmen and snag them whenever you can. The marksmen themselves are pretty weak and do don't a lot of damage (hits me for about 300~ mail). Another good place to farm these is in Manaforge B'naar. Kill the engineers specifically.
